Todays post is for players outside of the US, and concerns a new site with a brand new poker concept… one that looks a lot like the sadly missed Rush Poker.
This is called Speed Poker, and works by pooling players together instead of seating them at their own tables.
When you fold a hand *boom* you recombine randomly with other players from the pool and get to start another hand straight away, You can fold before it is your turn to act too – meaning less dead time and a realistic chance of more than 300 hands per hour.
Speed Poker is available at a site called Terminal Poker, you can read my review over at SNG Planet here.
Being a new concept the player pools are quite small – they are growing and this could represent a huge advantage to players smart enough to learn the game before this site hits the headlines and gets popular… imagine a stream of new players not used to the concept or the 5-handed play filling your bankroll every day!
No Limit Holdem and Pot-Limit Omaha are the games available, and the smaller buy-in levels are where you will currently see the action. There are tournaments running, these are in the form of freerolls at the moment – with some (such as the EUR 400 special) requiring certain numbers of raked hands in order to qualify. I really liked the Rush Poker tournaments and hope to see Speed Poker tournaments up and running as soon as a critical volume of players is reached.
Compared to other sites the software at Terminal Poker looks very clean and simple. They have made this game available in multiple formats, so you can play it on your iPhone or Android smartphone, iPad, online via a browser version (should be good for Mac / Linux users) or via the usual download version too.
Some great Avatars can be chosen to add a bit of color to the games (I chose a rather confused looking giant slug, though there are plenty of tougher looking choices!). Speed Poker could well be about to break – and it definitely fills the gap left by Rush (which I still hope to see come back at some point soon!).
It also seems like Terminal Poker have a marketing budget to help them grow – so if you get in there early you could take advantage of this as well as the very soft opponents compared to what we were used to at Full Tilt.
